Fourth year BSBAA students of the U.P. Virata School of Business (UP-VSB) Ysabel A. Chua, Aitana K. Kaw, Kyle T. Kua and Nathaniel O. Lim won First Place in the National Finals of the Deloitte Philippines Risk Intelligence Challenge (RIC) held on 25 May 2017. Mr. Al-Habbyel Yusoph mentored the winning team that will represent the country in the Southeast Asian Finals in Thailand in July 2017.

Deloitte Risk Intelligence Challenge (RIC) is an inter-university risk competition which aims to nurture entrepreneurial efforts in combination with risk analysis. The competition seeks to provide risk awareness and to offer undergraduate students a glimpse into the risk industry. RIC encourages participants to deliver new insights on risk management. The competition also aims to foster independent learning via logical, innovative and creative thinking. (From Deloitte Invitation Material).

This year's competition on the theme: “Risk Mitigation through Innovation,” required students to conceptualize innovative solutions to Uber Philippines' key business challenges and mitigate its risks.

Six national finalists (two of them from UP-VSB) from various collegiate teams with written submissions were selected to present and respond to questions from a panel of judges. UP-VSB students Kijmie Hao, Sheena K. Lorenzo and Chloe Sy, mentored by Mr. Diogenes C. Dy., placed 2nd Runner-Up and was awarded as the Best Presenter Team.
