UPVSB Wins HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2017 Philippine Finals

A team of graduating BSBA and BSBAA students topped the National Finals of the HSBC Asia Pacific Business Case Competition held on 25 March 2017 at the Ateneo de Manila University. The team composed of Chelsea Jae P. Ngie (BSBAA V), John Alexander O. Soriano (BSBAA V), Marco G. del Valle (BSBA IV), and Christine Darla A. Bautista (BSBA IV) bested teams from 11 other Philippine universities to clinch the National Championship title. Prof. James Ryan O. Jonas mentored the team. Ateneo de Manila University placed second, while Silliman University came third. The UPVSB team received PHP120,000 cash prize and will represent the Philippines in the Asia-Pacific Finals to be held in Hong Kong on 7-9 June 2017 where they will be competing with teams from 24 universities. The competition, sponsored by HSBC and organized by the Asia Case Research Center, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Hong Kong (HKU), required students to develop and present a strategy for two business cases that were given to them on the spot. Teams were given 2.5 hours to analyze each case and to prepare their 25-minute presentation. There were 16 judges from HSBC in the two rounds of the case competition.
