Joel Tan-Torres Speaks Before UPVSB Class 2015

Joel L. Tan-Torres (BSBAA cum laude 1979, MBA 1983) and recipient of the VSB’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2004 shall speak during the recognition ceremonies of the Cesar E.A. Virata School of Business to be held at 9:00 a.m. on 26 June 2015 at the University Theater. Mr. Tan-Torres is the Chair of Professional Regulation Commission’s Board of Accountancy and a Partner of Tax Consulting Services of Reyes, Tacandong & Co. He was a former Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue from 2009 to 2010 and a former partner of the Tax Consulting Group of SGV. He completed the International Tax Program and the Program on Information Technology for Fiscal Systems of the Harvard University. He placed first in the CPA Licensure Examination in 1979. There are 331 graduates with 141 BSBA, 86 BSBAA, 84 MBA, 17 MS Finance, 1 MS Management and two PhD. Leading the graduates are Camille Patricia Y. Calma, BSBA, summa cum laude; Janelle Rodine S. Carrillo, BSBAA, summa cum laude and Riana Sandra G. Chua, BSBAA, summa cum laude. There are 150 honor graduates (66% of Class 2015): three with summa cum laude honors, 30 with magna cum laude honors, and 117 with cum laude honors.

During the ceremonies, the U.P. Virata School of Business, Security Bank Foundation and the C.L. Manabat & Co. Foundation present the Student Excellence Awards to four graduating students: Camille Patricia Y. Calma, Outstanding BSBA Graduate; Janelle Rodine S. Carrillo and Riana Sandra G. Chua, Outstanding BSBAA Graduates; and Camille Jasmine D. Aquino, Best in Leadership. Each awardee receives P50,000.00 from the Security Bank Foundation and the C. L. Manabat & Co. Foundation.
