UP Virata School of Business welcomes its 136 freshies

On August 3, 2018, 136 freshies entered the portals of the U.P. Virata School of Business (VSB). About 83,000 high school seniors took the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) in October 2017 at various testing centers around the country. Of the total examinees, 52,367 applied to UP Diliman.

VSB’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accountancy (BSBAA) program received the most number of 1st choice applicants, 9,733 for its 100 available slots. Its selectivity ratio (acceptance rate) or the number of final course qualifiers to number of 1st choice applicants is 1.03%. Only 87 of 100 BSBAA qualifiers officially enrolled.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program received the 4th most number of 1st choice applicants of 2,444 for its 100 available slots. Its selectivity ratio is 4.09%. Only 49 of 100 BSBA qualifiers officially enrolled.

The attractiveness of VSB’s undergraduate programs continues after first year of studies when about 400 shiftees from UP’s other degree programs apply to be admitted to VSB every year. In August 2018, VSB admitted 40 transferees from other UP Diliman academic units and five from other UP regional campuses.
