UPVSB Team Wins Deloitte Philippines Risk Intelligence Challenge

A team from the U.P. Virata School of Business (UPVSB) composed of 4th year BSBAAstudents Angelica Y. Chong, Isabel Victoria A. Salcedo, John Alexander O. Soriano and Rafael E. Tanpho won first place in the first ever Deloitte Philippines Risk Intelligence Challenge (RIC).The champion team will represent the country in the Southeast Asian Finals to be held in Singapore in July 2016.

Deloitte Risk Intelligence Challenge (RIC) is an inter-university risk competition which aims to nurture entrepreneurial efforts in combination with risk analysis. The competition seeks to provide risk awareness and to offer undergraduate students a glimpse into the risk industry. RIC encourages participants to deliver new insights on risk management. The competition also aims to foster independent learning via logical, innovative and creative thinking. The focus this year will be on business expansion, innovation (start-ups) and strategic risk management.(From Deloitte Invitation Material).

First organized as a Southeast Asian regional competition in 2012 among universities from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, this is the first time that the Philippines will be represented in the competition.

From the various collegiate teams that submitted written proposals, six local finalists(three from UPVSB) were selected to present and respond to questions from a panel of judges.The 2nd Runner-up and Best Presenter Team were also awarded to another UPVSB team composed of 5th year BSBAA students Francis Ceasar M. Chua, Frances Mae Zyra Cordova, Donal Vincent C. Ong and Yna Alexis B. Ortega. Trophies, medals, certificates and cash prizes were awarded to the winning teams. UPVSB Instructor Al-Habbyel Yusoph mentored all the UPVSB teams.
