UPVSB Wins 3rd Place in HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2015 in Hong Kong

Team Philippines represented by graduating BSBAA students won 3rd place in the Regional Finals of the HSBC Asia Pacific Business Case Competition held in University of Hong Kong on 3-5 June 2015. The team won US$2,000. Twenty four universities from 18 countries participated in the Hong Kong Asia Pacific Finals. Team Philippines qualified to the semifinals by winning over three universities (Round 1: National Chengchi University, Taiwan, Round 2: University of Dhaka, Bangladesh; Round 3: Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) in the first three rounds. However, it failed to hurdle Auckland University in round 4. It won over University of Brunei in the battle for 3rd place in round 5. Auckland University placed first while Hong Kong Polytechnic University came 2nd.

The team is composed of Vito Mikael C. Borromeo, Margaret Therese C. Clement, Jeanina Melissa K. Tee, and Patrick Eugene O. Wong. Assistant Professor James Ryan O. Jonas mentored the team.

Now on its 8th year, the business case competition sponsored by HSBC and organized by the Asia Case Research Center, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Hong Kong (HKU), required students to develop and present a strategy for five (5) business cases that were given to them on the spot. Teams were given 2.5 hours to analyze each case and prepare their 20-minute presentation. (Vol. 2015 No. 11)
